Sell Your Woodworking Projects on eBay

If you are a woodworker looking for a fun way to make a little more money on the side, you may want to take up eBay woodworking – that is, selling your woodworking projects on eBay – as a hobby, or maybe even to supplement your income. There is high demand for unique, well crafted woodworking these days, by collectors and wood enthusiasts, individuals who regularly browse eBay looking for just that, and if you are a woodworker who is good at the craft, you too can cash in on this, whether you want to do it just for fun, to make some extra money, or even let it evolve into your full time profession!

When people shop at the major chain department stores, the only real wood made items they will find for sale are usually things like picture frames, spice racks, and things of the like. But these items far and away don’t usually have the sort of craftsmanship that a true woodworking collector is looking for. And truthfully, wood items that do have this sort of craftsmanship is getter herder and harder to find these days, which drives up the demand for it, thus, making your woodworking more valuable. I took a wood class once, and while all the other students were busy with the normal mundane projects a class like this usually entails, I decided to try something different. I had this old barrel that had been sitting in my grandfather’s backyard for years. Like one of those huge barrels that they used to keep booze in. I rolled that big thing into class, cleaned and sanded it up, made some cuts and additions, and made a laundry hamper chair out of it. The seat pulled up and you could keep laundry in it, and with the seat down it was a chair. Not only did I get an “A” on the project, I got something unique and nice that I have used for years in my home. This is a great example of something that would sell well on eBay. Something unique and different that you won’t find in the stores.

The trick is to keep marketing and your target demographic in mind. You need to think about who is going to buy your product, and what it is they are looking for. To give you a head start on this, here are a few tips: It is usually older people that fancy woodwork items the most. The tricky thing about this is that older people at this point in time are not always the biggest group of internet browsers, but there are enough of them on there and that number is growing every day, as older people more and more learn how to surf the net, and as younger people that know how to use computers get older.

There also seems to be a pattern that unusual, different and unique items are the best sellers on eBay, but do a little research for yourself so you can identify the trends. Table legs are a good example of a good eBay Woodworking item. There are many out there who build tables and just either don’t have the skill to craft some greatly detailed table legs or they have no desire or time to bother with it. So you can make table legs, sell them on eBay, and people will buy them for tables they are building, or replace the legs of an existing table.
