For the first step, you need to set the size of your image or text that you want to engrave to the size of the bricks. You can use the design program to do this. If you are going to engrave lettering, the larger sized letters will be much easier to engrave that the small letters and the same is right of images.

For the second step, you have to print the design that will be engraved once it has been correctly sized. Then, place a piece of the carbon paper behind the printout.

After that, place the image printout and also the carbon paper on the face of the brick that you want to engrave. Take a pencil and then run it over the outline of your design.

For the next step, you have to remove the image print out and also carbon paper. You need to ensure that you will place them correctly so now you have the outlines of the image that have transferred to the brick.

Remember to put on the protective eye-wear. For the last step, you can turn on your engraving tool and then start to carve out your design fro the brick by using the image outlines as the guide. Brick has the hard material; therefore you may have to periodically exchange the tips.
